as of summer 2022, covid tests can be booked at makunduchi hospital which is a 20min drive from kizikula using the following link: https://zanzibarcovidtesting.co.tz/. to book the appointment, you will need to select region: Kusini Unguja and then Makunduchi as the location. it usually takes 48hrs to get results and cost $80.

you can also book a mobile appointment where the test comes to you instead of needing to visit the test center via the same website above. this option costs $120.

Spring/summer 2022 Entry requirements

Passengers and airline crew traveling to Tanzania must complete the "Traveller's Surveillance Form" at https://afyamsafiri.moh.go.tz/ https://healthtravelznz.mohz.go.tz/traveller/#/home at most 24 hours before arrival.

Passengers and airline crew traveling to Zanzibar must complete the "Traveller's Health Form" at https://healthtravelznz.mohz.go.tz/traveller/#/home at most 24 hours before arrival.

All passengers must have:

  • a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arrival. Vaccines accepted are AstraZeneca (SK Bioscience), AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Covaxin, Covishield, Covovax, Janssen, Moderna (Spikevax), Nuvaxovid (Novavax), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinopharm and Sinovac; or

  • a negative COVID-19 NAAT or RT-PCR test result certificate with a QR code from a test taken no more than 72 hours prior to departure of the first flight of their itinerary.

This does not apply to:

  • passengers younger than 5 years;

  • passengers with a COVID-19 recovery certificate issued at least 10 days and at most 180 before arrival.

Passengers arriving from Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, France, India, the Republic of Malawi, Rwanda, South Africa, the United States of America, Uganda and the United Kingdom are subject to a COVID-19 rapid antigen test upon arrival at their own expense (the cost is USD 10). To avoid the long waiting time passengers can pre-book their rapid antigen test at https://zanzibarcovidtesting.co.tz/app/home before departure. This does not apply to passengers who are 5 years or younger.
